OVERVIEWtop

As of December 31, 2011, 76,506 cumulative HIV/AIDS cases have been reported in New Jersey.  Teens and young adults continue to be at risk, with those under 35 accounting for 56% of new HIV infections in 2010 (those ages 13-24 accounted for 26% and those ages 25-34 accounted for 31%). Most young people are infected sexually. This conference will focus on methods used to improve viral load suppression and new treatments for the growing number of Hepatitis C infections in New Jersey.

TARGET AUDIENCEtop

This CE educational activity will be of interest to physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers and other healthcare professionals who treat women, adolescents and young adults.

OBJECTIVES top

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Implement testing and treatment options for Hepatitis C infection in adolescents and young adults.
  • Discuss methods for engaging patients in care to achieve viral load suppression.
