This conference will address the most recent HIV treatment recommendations along with new directions in HIV research. Presentations will also discuss the increase in certain cancers in people living with HIV, the challenges of transgender health, the role of the healthcare professional in improving health literacy, and new advances in hepatitis C.
This activity is designed for healthcare providers involved in the screening, diagnosis, evaluation, management, prevention, and treatment of patients with HIV/AIDS. This includes infectious disease and primary care physicians, advanced practice nurses, and nurses. The conference may also be beneficial for social workers and medical case managers.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Discuss current HIV treatment guidelines and identify medications in the pipeline
- Describe the malignancies that are increasingly occurring in HIV patients and discuss strategies for prevention and early diagnosis
- Recognize the complexities in HIV prevention and treatment of transgender patients to ensure the best outcomes
- Implement the concepts of health literacy including numerical and health terminology comprehension into patient practice
- Interpret information about Hep C treatment presented through case studies

METHOD OF PARTICIPATION
In order to meet the learning objectives and receive continuing education credit for this activity, participants are required to check in at the registration desk, attend the activity, and complete the online evaluation form at the conclusion of the activity. A letter certifying attendance and credit verification will be emailed to participants upon completion of the online evaluation survey.
Pharmacists: Your NABP e-Profile number and date of birth will be collected at the conclusion of the program. CPE credit will be processed after the program evaluation has closed to participants, which will be four weeks following the activity date.
